Greenhouse ATS Resume: What Greenhouse Actually Screens For

Greenhouse is the ATS of choice for many startups and mid-size tech companies. Learn how it scores keyword overlap and how to tailor a resume without stuffing.

Greenhouse is widely used by startups and growth-stage companies, especially in tech. Recruiters live in scorecards and structured interview kits. Your resume still has to survive a parse and a keyword scan before a human opens it.

Keyword overlap, not design

Greenhouse does not grade fonts. It stores your resume, extracts text, and lets recruiters search by skill and title. Job posts written in Greenhouse often reuse the same required-skill list the recruiter will filter on. Those repeated nouns — React, Salesforce, SOC 2, series A — are the terms to mirror when they are true of you.

How to tailor for a Greenhouse posting

  • Copy the posting and list every required skill you actually have.
  • Put the closest matches in your summary and the first few experience bullets.
  • Keep a simple skills list (parsers love plain lists).
  • Leave out tools you cannot discuss in an interview.

Import the job from the link

Greenhouse postings are usually a public URL. ResumeSkip can import that link, then tailor your base to the posting and (on Pro) show matched and missing keywords so you can see the overlap before you apply.
